Founders of Claudia and Finn
When new mums Lucy Woodhouse and Meriel Kehoe first met at a south London playgroup in 2012, the sleep-deprived pair didn’t imagine they’d be selling over a million lollies across the country!
The pairs incredible journey has taken them to Downing Street twice and seen the pair hailed as start-up pin-ups. That’s down to Claudi & Fin, their frozen-yoghurt lollies billed as the healthy children’s snack born largely out of frustration at Woodhouse’s inability to find a decent dessert to give to her daughter, Claudia. Fin belongs to Kehoe.
From 400 hopefuls they won “PitchUp with Sainsbury’s”, a competition the grocer ran with StartUp Britain in September 2013. The pair hadn’t sold a lolly in their lives, then had a first order for 16,000 of them in 250 Sainsbury’s stores. Claudi & Fin is now in over in 430 Sainsbury’s stores and they’ve struck deals with Waitrose, Ocado and Budgens.
Don’t be fooled they are not just two mums with a nice lolly idea, Alongside Kehoe’s production experience on TV programmes like Made in Chelsea and Location, Location, Location. Woodhouse has managed multi-million marketing budgets for the likes of TalkTalk and her father ran a business selling flowers to supermarkets, which she eventually helped sell to Morrisons.
The ladies will be talking about starting up a food business, selling to retailers and the importance of trademarking your product.
