A passion for baking with over whelming positive feedback and encouragement is what lead founder Kanika Royer to turn this passion into a business.
She is not just the founder, but also the Pastry Chef of Gourmet Delights. It’s her qualified expertise and commitment to excellence that makes Gourmet Delights a startup business striving to make a name for itself.
Born in London, Kanika has had a passion for baking for as long as she can remember. In 2012, during her years of studying Forensic Science at university, she decided to pursue turning her passion into a little part time business by supplying her fellow students along with family and friends her hand crafted treats that are truly indulgent.
After she graduated in 2014, she decided to concentrate on her business full time and give it her all. Originally called Connoisseurs Gourmet Cupcakes Ltd where they specialised in cupcakes along with offering bespoke and novelty cakes, early 2015 the decision was made to rebrand and expand.
Not wanting to limit the companies potential to just offering cupcakes and cakes, the thought to utilise talents further by offering a wider variety of sweet treats for all occasions and events and gain a higher level of skills and qualification within the pastry industry, Kanika completed a 6 months Pastry and confectionery course where she is now a qualified Patisserie Chef. During this time the rebranded name of Gourmet Delights Ltd was born.
The introduction of offering a variety of small treats such as macaroons, cake pops, mini desserts and more, along with still providing cupcakes and cakes, was welcomed by customers. New menu items and new recipes have been added through the rebranding phase and the expansion has been delightful.
I attended a Mentor MatcHer event called “Conversations witHer” and I can honestly say that I was moved that day to the point where I have now been to 4 of their events.
